Key Stage 4

Year 10 pupils follow the 'Literacy and Numeracy Programme'. 

 

Year 11 pupils at this time will have the opportunity, with tutors, to complete tasks pertinent to Year 11 only, for example collating records of achievement and preparing personal statements.

 

Both year groups follow the 'Key Stage 4 Tutor Programme' written collectively by the Key Stage 4 tutor team and delivered by tutors. As part of this programme, on a rotational basis, pupils may be withdrawn into smaller groups to access differentiated sex, relationships and drugs education.

 

 

 

 

 

Key Stage 4 Tutor Programme

This is a personal learning and thinking skills programme that will help develop personal growth and development in pupils covering areas such as team work, independent enquiry, group discussion and debates whilst encouraging them to stay up to date with current affairs. The programme is differentiated by the tutors to suit the individual needs of their tutees. Throughout the year pupils will attend regular KS4 assemblies to discuss important issues that may arise specific to their key stage.

As part of the programme pupils may be withdrawn on a rotational basis to access differentiated sex, relationships and drugs education. 

During year 11 pupils will have the opportunity to complete tasks pertinent to year 11 only such as writing personal statements to support their college applications, preparing for work experience and collating their records of achievement.

 

 

KS4 Socials

KS4 pupils are all invited to attend social evenings allowing them to spend time with their friends with a focus on developing social skills and independence. The socials create opportunities for pupils to engage with their peers across KS4 and enhance their confidence in social situations. 

 

     

Sparsholt

 

Sparsholt Year 11 pupils have the opportunity to undertake a link course at Sparsholt College.  This runs on Fridays and each pupil attends for one term. Pupils can gain a recognised vocational qualification in the form of City and Guilds Level 1 in Horticulture Skills. They have to successfully complete ten units to obtain the qualification and assessment is undertaken through practical skills testing.    Units include:

 

*  Care and maintenance of tools 

*  Block paving   

*  Mulching  

*  Fence painting

 

   

Next Steps Knowledge Programme

 

Next Steps is exclusively for Year 11 pupils designed to help them prepare for the pressing issues faced during this critical year such as interviews, the world of work, careers, applications and further education.

 

 

 

Learning, Employability and Progression (L.E.A.P)

 

This covers careers, transition, employability, citizenship and PHSE.  Pupils recieve this as timetabled sessions or through their Vocational and Foundation curriculums.

 

 

 

 

1:1 Maths Intervention (Year 11)

 

1-1 Intervention is offered to selected students working on the IGCSE Mathematics who would benefit from additional exam practice. In these sessions, students work on key topic areas and complete exam questions in order to gain confidence become proficient in these key areas.
