Senior Science Technician

Dove House are looking to appoint a Senior Science Technician to work within our science department to foster effective participation of pupils in the social and academic processes of the school. Previous experience of working in the relevant area e.g. working within a laboratory, as well as having specific Health and Safety knowledge and experience in relation to chemicals is essential for this role. Previous experience of working with children with special educational needs is not required as full training will be provided.

Your primary duties will be to:

  • Prepare the classroom for practical lessons
  • Support the class teacher during lessons with materials and demonstrations as required
  • Prepare appropriate resources for examinations
  • Undertake and maintain stock control; replenishing stock as required, diagnosing faults, ensuring safe storage of equipment and materials
  • Contribute to lesson planning, in liaison with teaching staff, emphasising on the practical elements of the topic content
  • Ensure all members of the science department follow Health and Safety procedures and maintain a safe working environment

The successful candidate will contribute to the positive ethos of the school and will:

  • Have a relevant subject qualification
  • Have good IT knowledge
  • Have excellent verbal communication skills
  • Have excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise own workload
  • Be able to demonstrate sensitivity, tact and resilience when dealing with challenging circumstance

Salary Details: £23,705 – £ 26,401 FTE (£6,601 – £7,352 Actual)

Hours of Work: 12 Hours per week, term time only
