Dove House Academy

What will my child's curriculum look like at KS4

At Dove House Academy we take pride in offering each pupil a curriculum which best meets their learning needs, motivates and engages them, and prepares them for their future.

All pupils in KS4 will receive lessons in ‘Core Subjects’ - English, Maths, and Science - and ‘Further Curriculum’ subjects - Life Skills, ICT, P.E, PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education), and RSE (Relationships and Sex Education).

It is important to us that our young people have choice and agency, and an opportunity to shape their own curriculum. Wider curriculum subjects are provided as part of our ’My Choices’ program in which pupils will be allocated a further three subjects of their choice, based on their preference and availability. These options typically include Art, Sport and Fitness, Food Technology and Performing Arts, among others

In each ‘My Choices’ subject, we offer a range of qualifications. Subject teachers work with pupils to establish which qualification is most suitable for them. Qualifications may include GCSE, BTEC, Level 1 Awards, Entry Level 1-3, or AQA Unit Awards (including pre-entry level).

This tailored approach allows us to match each pupil with the level of qualification that best reflects their skills and potential and is reflected in our excellent exam results.
